If you feel more secure coming with someone you trust, you are welcome to bring them. There are meetings in different languages (German, Farsi, English, Russian, Polish) as well as meetings for certain groups of people \u2013 for example, women, men, the queer community \u2013 in order to provide especially safe spaces. Although being clean is <strong>not a prerequisite<\/strong> for participation, we strive for <strong>complete abstinence<\/strong> from all drugs, including alcohol.\r\n[\/av_toggle]\r\n[av_toggle title='Are there any leisure activities in NA?' tags='' custom_id='' av_uid='av-6enmwp' title_open='' title_pos='' slide_speed='' aria_collapsed='' aria_expanded='' sc_version='1.0']\r\nOur group <strong>meetings<\/strong> are NA's main offering. Meetings are where clean addicts gather to share and to help each other to stay clean. This also creates friendships among members. There are regular local, regional and international <strong>events<\/strong> (\u201cconventions\u201d) where meetings and workshops on various topics as well as social events in the evenings take place over several days. These gatherings might include barbecues, various daytime events and 'clean discos'.\r\n\r\nNA itself does not offer any other leisure activities \u2013 although these are often organised privately amongst members.\r\n[\/av_toggle]\r\n[av_toggle title='The word \u2018god\u2019 is used in Narcotics Anonymous. Is NA religious?' tags='' custom_id='' av_uid='av-1c0utkp' title_open='' title_pos='' slide_speed='' aria_collapsed='' aria_expanded='' sc_version='1.0']\r\nNo. We speak of a \"<strong>God of our understanding\"<\/strong> and by that we mean a force or Higher Power that is greater than ourselves. Everyone can imagine God in a way they think is right. In the context of the NA program, we speak of spiritual principles. By that we mean values such as openness, willingness, honesty and so on. NA has <strong>no opinion<\/strong> on religious or other issues. NA works <strong>worldwide<\/strong>, regardless of the prevailing belief system.\r\n[\/av_toggle]\r\n[av_toggle title='Is NA a cult?' tags='' custom_id='' av_uid='av-u1bs1l' title_open='' title_pos='' slide_speed='' aria_collapsed='' aria_expanded='' sc_version='1.0']\r\nNo! Narcotics Anonymous is organized on a <strong>grassroots<\/strong> basis \u2013 there is no leader or guru. We work only on a <strong>voluntary<\/strong> basis and offer assistance via <strong>self-help<\/strong>, by and for addicts. All offers and services in NA are <strong>free of charge<\/strong> and are paid for with our <strong>own donations<\/strong>, on a voluntary basis.
